Cascais - Portugal

Oriented by:
Architect Nuno Távora

The project searches a harmonious framework within the urban plan previously stated, with the ambition of becoming structural for the territory, providing for a new centre of natural values of enhanced relevance.
The project is based on two objects, two distinct scales, which in their complementary evokes the place, simultaneously, promoting continuity with the topography (Commerce/ Multi-uses) and a new reference, within a uncharacterized context with no recognizable urban landmarks.
The Tower archetype – the Hotel – is used to provide for the iconic imagery, where a unique object can be viewed as landmark and contextualize the landscape. The solution’s primarily virtue is the ability to articulate various programmes with place’s topography and the ability to promote public space, through a gesture that marks the landscape and making it, finally, distinct.
